Objective: To evaluate the association between stillbirth and severe maternal morbidity when compared to gestational age matched and term livebirths....We selected gestational age and term matched livebirths as control groups. Logistic regression was performed to evaluate the odds of composite severe maternal morbidity in stillbirths versus gestational age matched and term matched livebirths, separately, while adjusting for potential confounders....Stillbirth was associated with significantly higher odds of severe maternal morbidity compared to term (aOR = 4.35, 95% CI 1.75-10.84) and gestational age matched livebirths (aOR = 3.39, 95% CI 1.72-6.66)....There was no significant difference in the rate of postpartum hemorrhage compared between stillbirths and gestational age matched livebirths (10.1% vs. 7.3%, p = 0.42), however there were significantly more transfusions needed in the stillbirth group (10.1% vs. 1.6%, p = 0.017).

We compared 227 and 250 male and female twins with 13,952 and 13,500 male and female singletons, respectively, and secondary comparison groups of 2,270 male and 2,500 female singletons matched to twins on gestational age (GA) and sex.

Background: We have previously demonstrated that a competing risks model for prediction of small for gestational age (SGA) neonates, has a superior performance to that of the traditional risk-scoring methods.

For each pregnancy, the recommended amount of gestational weight gain was calculated based on maternal BMI and gestational age at delivery.

Mean gestational age was higher with membrane stripping (40.2 vs. 39.4 weeks, p = 0.02, d = 0.62), though not clinically significant. Higher birth weight in the membrane stripping group (3663.0 g vs. 3394.8 g, p = 0.01, Cohen's d = 0.63) was similarly not clinically significant.

Fetal growth restriction (FGR) or small for gestational age (SGA) is a serious birth outcome affected by environmental factors. Animal studies have shown that prenatal chromium (Cr) exposure leads to intrauterine growth restriction and reduced birth weight in fetal rats.

A decreasing risk of LOS was observed with increasing gestational age (P < 0.001), vaginal delivery (P = 0.005), and supplemental corticosteroids given after a 10-day treatment with prophylactic HC but before the LOS (P < 0.001)....What is new: • A lower risk of late-onset sepsis was observed with higher gestational age at birth, vaginal delivery, and, more surprisingly, with supplemental corticosteroids administration after day 10. • Competing survival by Fine and Gray analysis suggests that death was reduced

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 409 infants with a gestational age < 32 weeks who were admitted to our NICU between 2018 and 2024. AKI was defined according to the KDIGO guidelines or the Gupta threshold for days 3, 5, or 7 SCr.

Background: Despite the established correlation between small for gestational age (SGA) and heightened necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) risk, the relationship between intrauterine growth, including SGA, and the occurrence of NEC remains ambiguous....Methods: This study utilized data of very preterm infants (VPIs) with a gestational age

Prepregnancy weight gain exhibited a dose-response association with higher macrosomia and large for gestational age (LGA) risks (all P < 0.001). Conversely, prepregnancy weight loss was linked to a higher small for gestational age (SGA) risk in female newborns.
