The prevalence of hypomagnesemia was 0%, 6.82%, and 15.07%, while the incidence of hypermagnesemia was 5.13%, 13.64%, and 30.14% in G3, G4, and G5 stages, respectively.

Simultaneously, hypomagnesemia was detected in three cases. Treatment with vitamin D and calcium supplements relieved symptoms, elevated serum calcium levels, and decreased parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels. In patients with PIL, evaluation of 25-hydroxyvitamin D, calcium, and PTH levels is crucial.

Most frequent treatment-related AEs were fatigue (5/12; G ⩾ 3 = 1), nausea (5/12; G ⩾ 3 = 0), anorexia (4/12; G ⩾ 3 = 0), transaminitis (2/12; G ⩾ 3 = 0), and hypomagnesemia (2/12; G ⩾ 3 = 0). The recommended phase II dose was SEL 60 mg once/week combined with NIVO + IPI.

In this study, we focused on mutations of M3 helix residue G301 that have been implicated in renal hypomagnesemia and familial hemiplegic migraine.

Ultimately, PPI-induced hypomagnesemia was identified as the primary driver of the patient's electrolyte abnormalities. This case serves dual teaching points....First, it underscores the importance of recognizing that refractory hypocalcemia and hypokalemia can often be linked to untreated hypomagnesemia so that timely diagnosis, effective management, and minimization of hospitalizations can be ensured....Second, this case highlights the unusual timing of symptomatic hypomagnesemia and subsequent hypocalcemia and hypokalemia despite years of prior PPI usage without prior known complications.

Using a new-user-design and propensity-score-matching analysis, we further related the use of prescribed oral magnesium and MACE among patients with hypomagnesemia (serum magnesium 2.3 mg/dL) were linked to higher MACE risks (HRs 1.11-1.20 for hypo-and 1.04-1.39 for hypermagnesemia, respectively) compared...Oral magnesium was prescribed to 9.7% and 0.7% of patients with hypomagnesemia and normomagnesemia, respectively....After propensity-score-matching balanced across 64 baseline characteristics, oral magnesium was associated with a lower MACE risk in 40,766 matched patients with hypomagnesemia (HR 0.89; 95%CI, 0.84-0.93), especially those on proton-pump-inhibitors or thiazides....Conclusions: In patients with T2D, both hypomagnesemia and hypermagnesemia were associated with higher one-year MACE risks compared to normomagnesemia. Prescribed oral magnesium was associated with a reduced MACE risk in hypomagnesemia but not in normomagnesemia.

Objective: To determine the association between hypomagnesemia and chronic use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) among patients visiting a tertiary care hospital....Patients with hypomagnesemia had a significantly higher mean age compared to those without (48.9±12.3 vs 38.2±11.4 years, p

Hypo- and hypermagnesemia were rare in dogs, while hypermagnesemia was common in cats and hypomagnesemia was not seen in cats. Dogs and cats with hypocalcemia were more likely to receive plasma.

Specifically, younger patients exhibiting hypomagnesemia demonstrated a higher incidence of 6-month disability and mortality.

Familiar hypomagnesemia with hypercalciuria and nephrocalcinosis (FHHNC) is a rare monogenic tubulopathy. Although some of its features are potentially harmful for skeletal homeostasis, this problem has not been systematically evaluated so far.
