As a result, researchers hypothesized that bromelain could be used to debride contaminated orthopedic implants. Methods: In this study, cortical bone screws were incubated in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus inoculated broth....Treatment groups were exposed to low-dose bromelain solution, high-dose bromelain solution, or bromelain powder with or without manual scrubbing of the implant. The screws were then stained with crystal violet dye and analyzed using optical density (OD)....The average OD of the low-dose bromelain solution group (0.104 ± 0.047) was no different compared with the control group (p = 0.345)....The average ODs of the low-dose + scrub bromelain solution (0.068 ± 0.020) and high-dose + scrub solution (0.045 ± 0.014) were significantly different from their respective control group (p = 0.012; p = 0.001)....Discussion: On the basis of these outcomes, bromelain is a promising alternative for the debridement of biofilm-contaminated orthopedic implants.

In this article, we disclose the encapsulation of bromelain in a poly-(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) matrix to create a new type of nanofibrous scaffold....After examining the physicochemical properties of the nanofibrous scaffolds, it was discovered that bromelain was successfully incorporated into PVA/HEC nanofibers, providing a significant morphological structure to the scaffolds....The in vitro release study indicated that the loaded bromelain exhibited a sustained and controlled release behavior from the PVA/HEC nanofibrous scaffolds, thereby effectively inhibiting the growth of HeLa cells, as evidenced by microscopic observations....It should be emphasized that the PVA/HEC nanofibrous scaffold containing bromelain may have a promising application for cancer therapy. © 2025 The Authors. Merr....Group A (20 eyes) was administered one tablet containing 250 mg of bromelain and 250 mg of diosmin mcgSMIN Plus twice daily for a period of two months. Group B (20 eyes) was monitored without drug administration until the next IVT. After two months and IVT administration, the groups were switched....Conclusions: Orally administered combination of bromelain 250 mg and 250 mg diosmin mcgSMIN Plus has positive impact on central retinal thickness in patients treated for cystoid center-involving diabetic macular edema (DME) with anti-VEGF intravitreal maintenance therapy.
