Aim: To investigate the interaction between specialized motor networks and higher associative brain networks for motor performance in adolescents exposed to neonatal hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE). ...

Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a severe brain lesion caused by perinatal asphyxia that often results in neonatal death or long-term neurological deficits. The in-depth study of cell death mechanisms has recently led to the discovery of cuproptosis, a new type of cell death.

Objectives: To investigate racial disparities in the prevalence, severity, intervention, and outcomes of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) among neonates in the United States.
Chao Han,Shuna Chen,Zihan Shi et al. Chao Han et al.
Finally, 1% silk fibroin nanomaterials were implanted into a rat model of hypoxic-ischemic brain injury....These findings suggest that silk fibroin nanomaterials loaded with human-derived neural stem cells could be used to treat hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy....Keywords: astrocyte deactivation; axonal development; cognitive recovery; hypoxic-ischemic brain injury; motor function; nerve regeneration; neural stem cells; neurotrophic factor; silk fibroin hydrogel; synapse formation.

Aim: This study assessed neurodevelopmental outcomes in neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) treated with therapeutic hypothermia (TH) outside randomised controlled trials (RCTs).

Consequently, there is a critical requirement for additional treatments for hypoxic-ischemic (HI) brain injury because hypothermia is only partially protective. Pharmacological therapeutics are as yet not available to treat HIE.

It was hypothesized that Netrin-1 will differ at different hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy stages....Demographic, laboratory, and Netrin-1 data were evaluated for all hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy stages....Results: Serum Netrin-1 concentrations were significantly greater in patients with moderate and severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy who underwent therapeutic hypothermia than in controls and patients with severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy....However, serum Netrin-1 concentrations were not significantly greater in patients with mild hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy than in controls....Therefore, this marker could be a biomarker for staging hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and therapeutic hypothermia and predicting the prognosis of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy patients.
