    随着知识经济时代的到来，知识已成为经济增长的重要来源，并且在不利环境中也能确保经济的可持续发展。本文从知识经济的角度比较了中国和美国的经济实力。为此，基于对先前研究的分析，作者提出了“以知识为基础的经济实力”这一概念，并建立了用于对比中美两国该指标的体系，进而进行了相应的比较与分析。结果表明：（1）尽管中国在高科技产品出口量和知识资源数量上领先于美国，但美国在人均GDP、知识产权收入、人力资本、财政支出以及ICT基础设施等方面优于中国；（2）中国主要关注的是知识资源的数量增长而非质量提升；（3）中国在缩小与美国的知识经济实力差距方面付出了巨大努力；（4）对于两国而言，资源指标对人均GDP的贡献程度不同。鉴于中美之间的竞争进入了一个新的阶段，这项比较研究可以为中国进一步加强自身经济实力的技术措施提供政策依据。
