The number of STIs continues to grow, with syphilis cases up 375 per cent from 2001-06, HIV up 56 per cent and chlamydia up 57 per cent. The target of seeing anyone who contacts a clinic within 48 hours has boosted access, but there are fears that sexual health is no longer a government priority. Campaigners want renewed focus on STDs, more targets to improve access and much better local, regional and national commissioning and planning.
